Are face and body crystal rollers worth the hype? Skinfluencers love Rose Quartz, Jade and Amethyst rollers for their ability to enhance product absorption, increase circulation, reduce wrinkles, and promote lymphatic drainage.

Rose Quartz Roller Lymphatic Drainage

What is lymphatic drainage?

If you regularly wake up with a swollen face or puffy eyes, lymphatic drainage via rolling could be your new secret weapon.

The lymphatic system is the body's main detoxification system. Lymph fluid carries white blood cells and other immune system molecules to distressed areas, ie. swollen areas. Once the area has healed, the fluid drains away from the injured area and towards the lymph nodes. The lymph nodes then filter out toxins and return the clean fluid back into the blood stream.

Lymph nodes are distributed across the face and body from the temples to the upper thigh. When you see puffiness, the Rose Quartz Roller can be used to gently move the fluid towards the lymph nodes (known as lymphatic rolling) so swelling can be disseminated and toxins can be flushed out.

How to Use a Facial Roller on the Face

When rolling, strokes should go from the center of the face out, and always in the direction of a lymph node (i.e. under your ear or temple). If you want to try out a detoxifying facial rolling technique, here's how we do it.

  1. Starting at the top of the neck, roll in a downward motion from ear to clavicle. Repeat this 3x, starting at your ear then finishing in the center line of your neck.
  2. Next, roll from the center of your chin, across your jaw, to your hairline 3x, rolling down to the clavicle on the last pass.
  3. Lastly, roll from the center of the forehead toward the temple 3x, rolling to the clavicle on the last pass.

PROtip: If you feel the need to swallow while rolling, it's a good indicator that the fluid is moving and you are doing it correctly.

Crystal Roller Body Uses

How to Use a Crystal Roller on the Body

Workout Buddy

After that strenuous pilates sesh, skip the ice bath and opt for a crystal roller to relieve sore muscles. A Rose Quartz Roller, which is naturally cold to the touch, reduces swelling, improves circulation and prompts healing. We like to store our rollers in the freezer or refrigerator for an extra-deep muscle release roll post workout.

Skincare Enhancer

A facial roller helps seal serums, oils and moisturizers into the skin on the face and the body. After you shower and apply a body oil or lotion, use a chilled roller to help evenly distribute the skincare, close pores and lock in anti-aging benefits.

Bloat Buster

Relieve the pressure and swelling caused by stubborn bowels or menstrual cramps by rolling the crystal roller counter clock wise across the lower tummy when it's bloated. Remember that when rolling, no added force is needed – let the natural weight of the stone do its job!

Migraine Soother

Facial rollers can take the place of a massage to target and relieve pressure points during times of stress, hot flashes, headaches and migraines. Use the smaller end of the roller to gently roll on your temples, or behind your ears. For the same results, you can also roll the wider end behind your neck or on the inside of your wrists.

 Post-Workday Decompress

Been sitting at your desk all day? A body roller can help redistribute the edema (fluid retention) that gathers in certain areas of your body after hours without activity. Use long strokes on your derriere, back of the legs, upper arms for a visible contouring effect.
